In late June 2026, President Macky Sall travelled to South Korea to take part in the Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity. This international gathering brings together leaders and diplomats every year around security issues in Asia and worldwide, with the support of specialists. This year, candidates for the post of Secretary-General of the United Nations were invited to speak. The Korea Times reported the invitation on 16 June, followed by Africa Intelligence on 23 June.

The visit to Jeju had a clear purpose: to carry the message of the candidacy to Asia. The Asian continent carries growing weight in world affairs. It includes permanent and elected members of the Security Council as well as major economies. It is also home to large contributors to peace operations, and President Macky Sall intends to answer its expectations.

Speaking at the forum, the candidate placed peace, security and development at the top of his priorities. He recalled the first pillar of his vision: "no peace without development". Poverty feeds conflict, and conflict in turn destroys development. Breaking this cycle requires joint action backed by strong institutions and predictable financing.

The international context gives this message added weight. Tensions are multiplying in Asia as elsewhere, and rivalries between major powers are weakening dialogue. President Macky Sall holds to a constant conviction: the United Nations remains the only framework in which all States can talk to one another. He calls for that framework to be reformed and strengthened so that it can be preserved.

On the margins of the forum, the candidate continued his exchanges with Asian partners. These talks extend the diplomatic sequence under way since early June with the members of the Security Council. They follow the candidate's method, which is to listen to each region and understand its priorities in order to build convergence.

After Europe, the campaign now reaches Asia. Further visits will follow before the consultations scheduled in New York. The record of President Macky Sall and his project for the UN are presented on the official website www.mackysall.net, which reports on every stage of the campaign.
